Plan your journey to Foxglove Covert Local Nature Reserve.
Foxglove Covert LNR is four miles from the A1(M) in Catterick Garrison near Richmond, North Yorkshire. From the A1(M), take the A6136 signposted to Catterick Garrison. The reserve is adjacent to Cambrai Lines, Munster Barracks. Follow the brown tourist signs.
Entry to the reserve will soon be moved away from the existing entrance via Cambrai Lines. This new entrance will be accessible from Waithwith Road and will not require visitors to enter the reserve through Cambrai Lines or any other barracks. This change is planned for February or March 2026; this page will be updated with new access information once the new entrance opens.
Access is via Cambrai Lines front entrance, where you must stop at the layby and sign in to receive a Visitor Pass at the entrance office. Drivers should bring photographic ID.
You will be asked to show photographic ID on entry to the barracks.
You will then be directed to drive through the barracks via a one-way system. Follow the signs marking Foxglove Covert, and pull over into the designated area on the Parade Ground. Cross the road to use the intercom to open the reserve gate, then drive through the gate and continue along the access track until you reach one of the car parks in the reserve.

The reserve is temporarily closed with limited access due to a fault with the reserve access gate. Work is ongoing to create an alternative entrance which will reduce disruptions to access caused by the gate.
Some access for pre-arranged groups and events is going ahead.
