Please use our booking enquiry form to tell us about your school or group visit.

Number of Children and Adults

Children's group at Foxglove CovertThe maximum number of children per visit is 30. The children should be divided into the appropriate groups prior to the visit.  This will have been discussed before your arrival.

For the visit to be a pleasurable and valuable learning experience for the children a good ratio of adults to pupils is required.

NUT guidance is as follows:

  • 1 adult for every 6 pupils in school years 1 to 3,  5 years to 8 years old (under 5s reception classes should have a higher ratio);
  • 1 adult for every 10-15 pupils in school years 4 to 6; 8 to 11 years of age – a ratio of 1 to 10 would be preferred
  • 1 adult for every 15-20 pupils in school year 7 onwards – a ratio of 1 to 10 would be preferred

Adult input is helpful and more adult help is better than less.
