Early cowslip

10 volunteers were here today. We tidied away all the felled logs from the front of the hide and finished the bark path up to the wet meadows. The last of the gorse and hawthorn was burnt on the wet meadows area. It was glorious up there this afternoon, with curlew calling and the sun shining down, reflecting off the water.

Early cowslip

The net rides continue to be pollarded. This is ongoing for the next two weeks.

A grey wagtail was seen late afternoon flying from the vole ponds over towards the moorland.

The early cowslip is in flower in the back garden.

February Winter Worky Day

Sunday 2nd February 2025 | 10am - 3pm

Join our staff and volunteers for a fun day of practical habitat management on Sunday 2nd February.

Help out with winter habitat management tasks on the reserve. Tasks may vary but can include coppicing and pollarding willow carr, creating dead hedges, ring barking and clearing scrub.

Please bring along a packed lunch, come ready for all weather conditions and bring your oldest outdoor clothes as tasks will be mucky.

Booking is essential for this FREE event.

Please note bookings close at midday January 31st.
