Foxglove Covert Nest Box Totals
At Foxglove Covert we have a large number of nest boxes spread throughout the reserve in a variety of habitats. Our large boxes are suited to Owls and Jackdaws and the smaller ones attract species such as Tits, Flycatchers, Nuthatches and Wrens. Each summer, every box is checked to determine which are being used and by what. Return visits when the chicks are the correct size enable us to ring the chicks under the BTO ringing scheme and submit the nest records to the BTO nest recording scheme.
The table below shows the number of nests of each species found, and the number of chicks then ringed. Previous years data are included to allow you to see the trends over time.
Nest boxes can be individually adopted for a season as part of our Adopt-A-Box scheme. Get in touch, or pick up a leaflet for more details on this scheme.
